Volunteers Needed for Buncombe County Board of Elections

Volunteers Needed for Buncombe County Board of Elections
Details below:
Election Day: We are still needing Republican party judges for the upcoming November 3rd election. Interested workers can contact kevin.roberts@buncombecounty.org, 828-250-4226. Pay begins at $175 for assistants, but for party judges this raises to $210.
Early Voting: We are also in need of a few more Early Voting workers, which is held from Oct 15th – Oct 31st. Interested workers can contact Neggy.Fox@buncombecounty.org, 828-250-4218. Pay is $12-$14 an hour, depending on role.
MAT Teams: I could use a few more MAT members. These teams travel to nursing homes in pairs of two (each of a differing party) and assist residents in registering to vote, requesting an absentee ballot, and voting their absentee ballot. Pay for this position is $12/hr plus mileage.
Volunteers: I still have a need for a few volunteers to help create the absentee mailing packets. We have obtained a large conference room in which to put these absentee ballot packets together. This will allow us to have up to 20 volunteers and 8 staff members working at a time, and we can process our thousands of requests in a very timely manner. This is one of the largest rooms the county has access to, so we will easily be able to socially distance 6+ ft apart. Masks are also required at all times when indoors. Ideally volunteers are able to work at least twice, preferably more. It saves us time on training and paperwork! The task requires detail-oriented focus and repetitive movements (but no heavy lifting). If interested in volunteering, please contact Beth at beth.franklin@buncombecounty.org , or call her at 828-250-4201. Ideally we are looking for volunteers who can come in a few days a week.
Since we have never used volunteers before, I thought I’d include some more information about the opportunity:
We need help during the next 2 weeks starting September 3rd through Friday, September 11th, 2020. Afterwards, we may need a few volunteers who can regularly commit to helping a few days a week.
Each weekday has two shifts: 9:00-Noon and 1:30-4:30pm. Should one desire to work all day, we recommend working one shift to start with to see how it goes, before signing up for a full day.
Thank you so much! If you have any questions please feel free to reach out.
